Parents are obligated to notify appropriate school personnel of their student's continuing medication regime for a non-episodic condition. With parental consent, the School Nurse may communicate with your student's Physician who may counsel the nurse regarding the possible effects of the drugs or drug interactions or any impact the drug may have on the student's physical, mental and social behavior as well as possible behavioral signs and symptoms of adverse side effects, omission or overdose. Students in grades 7 through 12 may be excused from school for the purpose of obtaining confidential medical services without the consent of the student's parent or guardian. District staff will make every effort to encourage students to confide in their parents/guardians when releasing students for confidential medical services. (Ed.Code) 46010.1)
