When the strategic planning process began in the fall of 2006, we began a journey into uncharted territory culminating on August 27th with the approval of the Strategic Plan by the Board of Trustees. This plan gives us the opportunity to explore, define, and actualize for our students diverse curriculum and learning experiences, character education, exemplary staff, family involvement, systems of support, internal and external systems of communication, exemplary learning environments, effective collaboration, district organization, and the role of the adult program as a support system for the secondary school program.
Community members, parents, students, staff, faculty, and administrators became members of the strategic planning committee, action team leaders and action team members whose dedication and contributions to the development of our strategic plan is unprecedented. Each of these individuals volunteered their time and effort to the creation of a new, shared vision which reflects the core beliefs and values of the Sweetwater Union High School District.
The Strategic Plan, included in its entirety in this document, includes the ten strategies identified by the planning committee with their respective action plans which will now guide our daily work of educating students for life in this 21st century. More importantly, this five year plan will be reviewed annually for progress toward outcomes and periodically “revitalized” as the District adjusts its course.
As we unveil our vision, beliefs, mission, objectives, and strategies, it is our hope that you, too, will share our new found enthusiasm as we guide this unprecedented, systemic educational reform initiative as well as envision how this strategic plan honors our history and how it renews our commitment to the students we serve and whose future we have been entrusted to shape with an invincible sense of promise.
