The following sites are good starting points for exploration. Each leads to a huge number of interesting and useful lessons, resources and activities for teachers, administrators, instructional designers, trainers, counselors and other educators. - Blue Web'n, provides a searchable index of only the best sites. Created by the SDSU/Pacific Bell Education First Fellows.
- Kathy Schrock's Guide points to selected resources across the curriculum.
- The San Diego County Office of Education maintains an excellent index of curricular links.
- Language Arts: The Children's Literature Web Guide covers recommended books, movies, resources for parents and teachers, and research guides to children's literature. MCREL also has a good, more general Language Arts page. The S.C.O.R.E. Language Arts site includes CyberGuides for literature-centered lessons as well as links to many other resources.
- Social Studies: The National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) maintains an excellent list of resources organized by the ten major themes of social studies. The S.C.O.R.E. site has organized links so that you can search by standard or by grade level. CSU Northridge professor Marty Levine has a very good list of lesson plans and resources as well.
- Math & Science: The Cornell Math and Science Gateway is a collection of educational resources. California's S.C.O.R.E. sites for Math and Science include links to the state curriculum frameworks.
- Foreign Language: The McREL page for language teachers lists dictionaries, linguistic resources and pages for languages from Latin to Klingon.
- Art: Artsedge houses a great set of links for the art teacher. Better still, perhaps, is ArtsEdNet which is based at the Getty Museum. It includes a focus on ancient Greece and Rome that should be useful to social studies teachers.
- Music: The Music Education Launch Site is a comprehensive starting point.
