Former Sweetwater District Administrator Ordered to Pay District Attorney Fees - 6/10/11

Former Sweetwater Union High School District Area Superintendent Karen Janney was ordered to reimburse the district $13,913 in attorney fees today after losing her lawsuit against the district.

Janney, who unsuccessfully ran for the Sweetwater school board last November, had lost her lawsuit and lost her appeal. She had sued the district for claims of unpaid vacation.

In his ruling today, Judge William S. Cannon said the district was entitled to cover costs and reasonable attorney's fees incurred on the appeal.

This is the second successful ruling for the Sweetwater District to recover attorney fees from unsuccessful litigants. In January, a judge ruled that district administrator Charlene Lemons-Shivers owed Sweetwater $21,000 in attorney fees for her failed lawsuit.
