Number of Employees Facing Layoff Shrinks
More teacher jobs have been saved. The Sweetwater Union High School District has rescinded an additional four layoff notices to teachers as of June 25.
The action restored the jobs of three English and one social science teacher. At this point, all English teachers who had been given layoff notices will be returning to the classroom. By restoring these jobs, the number of credentialed employees still facing layoff has been dropped to 15 teachers and two counselors.
District staff is continuing efforts to withdraw additional reduction in force notices before the start of the school year.
