District Families Prefer New Calendar

In a recent telephone survey of Sweetwater Union High School District families, 85 % of parents responding said that they liked the school calendar. Over 60 % of families said that the schedule worked "very well" for them.

The one-question telephone survey question asked respondents how the July start date and multiple vacation opportunities throughout the year worked for their families. Respondents were given the choice of replying "Very well," "Somewhat satisfied," or "Not worked well."

"It is great to hear that families in the Sweetwater District prefer the new school calendar," said Superintendent Dr. Jesus M. Gandara. "This is a clear statement that families have made the academic calendar a priority."

The call was sent to all families in the district in both English and Spanish on the evening of December 2, 2010.
