Principal's Message

Hello and welcome to a brand new school year. I am honored to be named the new Principal of Chula Vista High School. Continuing the tradition of Spartan excellence both in out of the classroom will be the standard I expect to uphold and improve on this year. Everyone at CVHS is committed to providing a world class education in a safe learning environment. Instruction is aligned to State Standards and opportunities are available for student intervention and tutoring. Mastery of the course standards will prepare students to enter and succeed in colleges and universities.

CVHS offers a variety of programs to fit every student need. Our course offerings include A.P., Accelerated, Regular, ELD, Bilingual, Special Education, Inclusion, Structured English Immersion (S.E.I.), Math/English Support, and Intensive classes. We also provide a variety of elective classes to peek student interest. An expanding program at CVHS is AVID, a class designed to support students in challenging classes by providing college tutors and improving skills in organization, test-taking, note-taking, and time management.

Our School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) continues to be an award winning program producing outstanding students in the areas of music, dance, singing, drama, art, and stage production. Many performances are planned for this year and I am sure you will not want to miss out.

In addition, we offer an after school program for students who wish to stay after school and participate in positive activities in a safe environment. Our Sports program is open to all students who meet academic requirements. Sports application packets can be picked up at the ASB office.

Parents are welcome to be part of the Spartan family. We are always looking for volunteers to help during the school day. In addition, parents can be involved in the variety of parent meetings throughout the school year.

Through newsletter updates, Connect Ed phone calls, and parent emails, we will keep you informed of important school dates and events. Soon, this website will be updated and will be another important resource for parents and students.

We hope you agree that CVHS is a good choice for your son/daughter. But we are not satisfied with being just good. Our motto this year is Good to Great! Everyone of us at CVHS is working to make this a great school and a great year for you and your family.

Upcoming Events

Open House

Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, August 24. The festivities will begin at 5pm on the stage on the Big Lawn with performances from SCPA groups. In addition, we will have a food faire available. At 6pm, the Principal will welcome families and guests and classroom visitations will begin immediately afterwards. Open House provides you with an opportunity to meet teachers and to hear how we can work together to maximize student learning.

Parents Back to School Day

On Wednesday, September 22, parents are invited to come to CVHS and visit classrooms. We are proud of the work we do with students and want you to see it for yourselves. If you wish to participate, please come in to the main office by 8:00am. After a short talk with the principal, you will be visiting several classrooms during Period 2. After, the principal will lead a short question/answer session with you. The event will end at 10am. We hope you can join us on this day.
