Welcome to the SUHSD Categorical Programs department website. This site is designed to provide parents, staff, and community with information relevant to the Title I, State Compensatory Education (SCE), which operate at our sites under the regulations of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
The funding for these programs is designed to strengthen our students' skills in reading, writing, and mathematics and to ensure that struggling students have access to the services and opportunities they need to meet or exceed grade-level standards.
It is the intent of the Categorical Department to support school sites in their efforts to evaluate assessment data, collaborate with staff, parents, and community to develop a comprehensive school site plan designed to raise students' achievement.
It is our practice to provide schools with information on research-based strategies and program designs which have been proven to make a positive impact on student learning. With the support and collaboration of the Staff Development Department, it is our mission to enhance the instructional skills of our Highly Qualified Teachers as required by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
I am very pleased to work with the professional, talented and dedicated staff and parents at all of our schools who devote time and expertise to the design and implementation of the quality programs and intervention strategies of our Title I students.
