Lucent Technologies develops telecommunication products world-wide, and has committed to assisting with curriculum development, staff training, technology access and student and teacher activities. They have developed a school administration package with a homework hot line that uses telephone information retrieval for home access. This could be a possible immediate solution or could help to develop a future solution for our community based on that technology. |

Qualcomm A leader in technical training and staff development, as well as developing emerging technologies, Qualcomm will help in curriculum reform, staff development, activity design, job shadowing and video and E-mail conferencing. They donated and installed a $15,000 fiber optic and category 5 Ethernet network at National City Middle School and helped offset the cost of our kickoff event. |

Dr. Bernie Dodge, is a professor at SDSU who specializes in evaluation, instructional simulations and games, and teacher use of computers. Former president of Computer Using Educators (CUE), Dr. Dodge is an expert in software development and will provide direction with curriculum and staff development and software development of custom tools. Chair of the Department of Educational Technology, Dr. Patrick Harrison is an expert in the areas of evaluation and management. He and his team of Dr. Eleanor Lynch and Dr. Marcie Bober will perform the evaluation of Project Project ACT Now! and will measure its impact on student achievement. |

Cox Communications will work with Project ACT Now! in a variety of roles over the next five years. With Cox's investment in voice, video, and data technology throughout San Diego County, we will learn a great deal about the potential applications of these networks and technologies within our schools and classrooms. Cox will be providing access to people within their organization who are responsible for in-house staff development, human resources, and engineering. Project ACT Now! will work with Cox to prepare students for future employment in the fields of telecommunications and technology. Cox will also be providing District staff with high-speed data technology (cable modem) infrastructure and training. |

Pacific Bell's Education First Initiative sponsors fellows from San Diego State University (SDSU) who will work with the training team to increase teacher and student use of high quality learning resources that can be found for free on the World Wide Web. The Education First fellows at SDSU publish the Blue Web'n Update, which lists the weekly addition to the Blue Web'n Learning Applications Library, a searchable database of outstanding on-line curriculum and resources categorized by audience, content area, and type. The Blue Web'n Update is sent to over 6,500 subscribers. The trainers will work closely with the Education First fellows to design a rubric for evaluating effective, engaging and appropriate Web-based instructional units for Sweetwater's teacher-created and technology-rich bank of curriculum. In Year One, Pacific Bell is providing free voice, video, and data capable ISDN lines to every school in the district. The Education First staff will also supply training and support to facilitate desktop and room-sized video conferencing. |

Inspiration Software Inc. is supporting the Project ACT Now! Team with its fine software product, Inspiration. This program is used for outlining, concept mapping, semantic networking and brainstorming. Our team is using Inspiration as part of our training of teachers in all curricular areas. |

Proxima makes high quality multimedia projectors.This San Diego company is supplying all the projectors used in our training and presentation sessions. Proxima also supplies an excellent online resource for presentations at the Presenter's University web site. |
